ELLIPSOIDAL GYRATIONS OF A PEACH
Generation of Form
The elliptical cross-section chosen is the product of an exponential curve following properties of the 'Golden Section' or Φ proportion; which is 1.618 or 0.618.
A 2-D Phi profile is rotated within a "Phi" ellipsoidal space (and therefore stretched) to generate the resultant active half of the form.
The rotational passage of this 2-D profile has been further
transformed by the imposition of a "Valley Trammel" at right angles
to this rotating profile. This Valley Line has been ascertained by
"tilting" the cross section of the Ellipsoidal space.
|MOMENT OF TRUTH|
The 20 meter Cornish Cross has been lifted into place alongside the Tamar Bridge at Saltash, UK
Simon said, "The sculpture not only represents a proud Cornish heritage, but also the Cornwall of today which is an exciting and vibrant place, open to new ideas and celebrating its uniqueness."
"Ten people have worked on building the Cross. We have all felt the same, that this is a very specialized engineering project, but more importantly, a work of art."
